Grow Your Own Haiku
A Spring Haiku Workshop
Tuesday, April 08
6:30pm - 7:30pm
Grandview Heights
Meeting RoomExplore this traditional Japanese short form of poetry with award-winning poet Jennifer Hambrick.
In this hands-on workshop, with branches budding, flowers blossoming, and all nature coming to life, there is no better time than spring to learn the joys of writing haiku.
- Participants will learn the anatomy of haiku by exploring excellent examples of published haiku in English.
- We'll write our own haiku and share them with the group, as comfortable.
- And we'll have a chance to write our haiku on plantable seed paper – so we can watch our poems bloom!
For adults & youth ages 14+. Class maximum: 15. No fee.
<<< Registration required beginning March 25.
Hambrick's most recent poetry collection, a silence or two, will be available for sale.
Jennifer Hambrick is the author of four books of poetry, including a silence or two (Red Moon Press, 2024), a collection of haiku and short prose poems acclaimed as "a stunning collection ... destined to become a haiku classic." Hambrick has won many national and international awards for her free verse poetry and poems in Japanese short-form genres, including haiku.
