Gregory Peck is well-known for his sturdy screen stature and memorable performances, but he was also involved with social causes. In these four films, the two worlds collide to create thought-provoking entertainment.

• 8/05 at 6 pm: MYSTERY TITLE (1947)
  Peck plays a reporter who goes undercover to expose everyday anti-Semitism in postwar American society.
• 8/12 at 6 pm: To Kill a Mockingbird (1962)
  Atticus Finch, Harper Lee's upright attorney who defends an innocent black man against a heinous charge, is probably Peck's most beloved role, and, appropriately, it brought him his first and only Oscar.
• 8/19 at 6 pm: On the Beach (1959)
  Peck stars with Ava Gardner, Fred Astaire, and Anthony Perkins in this adaptation of Nevil Shute's thoughtful and chilling novel about the consequences of nuclear fallout.
• 8/26 at 6 pm: Captain Newman, M.D. (1963)
  PTSD is the issue here as Peck plays a military doctor trying to help soldiers cope with the condition. Costarring Tony Curtis.
